Course sections are used to subdivide large classes for instruction and grading. Sections are an optional course configuration that can be enabled in Edit Course or when creating a course.
If sections are enabled, all students who join a course must be assigned to a section.
Course sections should be created before inviting students to a course. When a student enters the course code for a course with sections they will be asked to select the section they belong to.
If students join the wrong course the instructor can reassign them in the course directory. This can be done one at a time or in bulk.
In an individual project or assignment, instructors or TAs can select a section of students to grade their submissions. Instructors and TAs can grade work in any section that has been created within the course. The student will see the name of the TA or Instructor who graded their assignment.
